La gomme arabique est la sève séchée de l'Acacia senegal, un arbre des zones semi-arides sahéliennes. Real & Roots s'approvisionne en Mauritanie, où cette gomme est récoltée par incision de l'écorce.

Les larmes de gomme se forment en quelques semaines, récoltées à la main, triées, séchées. Elle se présente en petits fragments ambrés à dorés, légèrement transparents. Soluble dans l'eau froide.

Utilisée depuis des siècles pour ses propriétés sur l'appareil digestif et en cuisine comme liant naturel. Usage alimentaire et cosmétique.

Uses :

Gum arabic can be used alone or in synergy with other plants. It is valued for its beneficial properties on digestive health and its role in treating inflammation of the oral and intestinal mucosa. In Mauritania, for example, gum arabic is used in artisanal preparations for its beneficial effects on the skin, as an emollient and in the treatment of small wounds. It is also incorporated into traditional practitioners' remedies to treat inflammation, gastric acidity and dyspepsia, and as a support in the administration of traditional pharmacopoeia treatments.

  • Detox Infusion with Gum Arabic :

    • Ingredients: Gum arabic, hot water, honey.
    • Preparation: Dissolve a teaspoon of gum arabic in a cup of hot water. Leave to infuse for a few minutes, then add honey to sweeten to taste. This infusion is renowned for its detoxifying and soothing properties, ideal for improving digestion and purifying the digestive system.
  • Gum Arabic poultice for skin disorders :

    • Ingredients: Gum arabic powder, warm water.
    • Preparation: Mix powdered gum arabic with just enough lukewarm water to form a thick paste. Apply this paste directly to affected areas of the skin, such as irritations, rashes or insect bites. Leave on for 15-20 minutes before rinsing off with lukewarm water. This poultice is known for its soothing and healing properties.
  • Soothing Syrup with Gum Arabic :

    • Ingredients: Gum arabic, water, honey, lemon juice.
    • Preparation: Heat a cup of water with a tablespoon of gum arabic until well dissolved. Add honey for sweetness and a tablespoon of lemon juice for a refreshing taste. Leave to cool and store in the fridge. This syrup is traditionally used to soothe coughs and throat irritations.
  • Revitalizing Decoction with Gum Arabic :

    • Ingredients: Gum arabic, water, spices (such as cinnamon or ginger).
    • Preparation: Boil a cup of water with a teaspoon of gum arabic and a few spices of your choice. Simmer for 10 minutes, then strain. Drink this revitalizing decoction to boost energy and strengthen the immune system, a common practice in traditional medicine.

Q : Comment consommer la gomme arabique ?

R : Dissoudre une à deux cuillères à café dans un verre d'eau froide. Laisser gonfler 15 minutes. Boire à jeun le matin ou entre les repas. Peut être ajoutée à des smoothies.

Q : Quelle dose quotidienne ?

R : Les études cliniques ont utilisé des doses de 5 à 30 grammes par jour. Pour un confort digestif quotidien, 5 à 10 grammes (environ deux cuillères à café) sont généralement suffisants.

Q : Y a-t-il des contre-indications ?

R : Bien tolérée dans la plupart des cas. Des doses élevées peuvent provoquer des flatulences en début de consommation. Déconseillée en cas d'allergie aux Acacias. Consulter un médecin en cas de traitement médicamenteux.

Q : Peut-on l'utiliser en cosmétique ?
